Ambulance trips

We want to help you get better - that's why your cab ride to the doctor or hospital should be comfortable and hassle-free.

Basic information:
All trips must be approved in advance by your health insurance company (exception: trips to inpatient treatment). Please make an appropriate application there. You must carry the authorization with you on every trip and show it to the driver.

Trips for outpatient treatment:

(doctor's visits, physiotherapy, outpatient treatment in hospital).

Only for holders of a severely disabled person's card with the letters aG, H or Bl and persons with care degree 3 with permanent mobility impairment as well as care degree 4 or 5:

  • Please apply to your health insurance company for an authorization for ambulance rides of any kind. Show the authorization for each ride.
  • In addition, a prescription from your doctor for each trip is also required (this also serves as a certificate of attendance).
  • The statutory co-payment* must be paid in cash in the cab for each trip until you reach your personal limit.
  • After reaching your personal limit (1% or 2% of your family's annual gross income), you will receive a certificate of exemption from the co-payment (exemption certificate) from your health insurance company and no longer need to pay anything in the cab.

Dialysis patients:

  • Written authorization (e.g. by ID card) of the trips by the health insurance company required.
  • Medical prescription required (permanent license for several trips, will be deposited at Taxi-Ruf Bremen).
  • You will receive a monthly invoice from Taxi-Ruf Bremen for your own contribution. The amount of the co-payment depends on the regulations of your health insurance. No cash payment in the cab.
  • Once you have reached your personal annual limit, you no longer have to pay your own contribution (please inform our office when you have received a corresponding notice).

Radiation/Chemotherapy:

  • Prior written approval (e.g., by ID card) of trips by health insurer required.
  • Medical prescription required (usually for several trips). Hand over this prescription to the driver during the first cab ride, in return you will receive a Taxi-Ruf Bremen value card.
  • Carry the value card with you on every trip and present it to the driver.

Depending on health insurance approval either:

  • The statutory co-payment* must be paid in cash on the first and last trip.
  • or: the statutory co-payment must be paid in cash for each trip.
  • No co-payment upon presentation of an exemption certificate or a corresponding declaration from the health insurance company (after reaching your annual load limit).

Trips for inpatient treatment:

Trips to inpatient treatment (admissions or discharges for hospital stays of more than one day.)

  • Medical prescription required.
  • The statutory co-payment* per trip must be paid in cash in the cab.
  • No co-payment upon presentation of an exemption certificate or a corresponding declaration from the health insurance company (after reaching your annual load limit).

* The legal contribution is 10% of the fare (minimum 5 €, maximum 10 €).

Please ask the driver to give you a receipt. Collect the individual receipts and submit them to your health insurance company. The exemption cards issued by the health insurance company are always valid only until the end of the current calendar year.

Cost unit: accident insurance fund, employers' liability insurance association, hospital:

(occupational or school accidents, trips to external treatment during hospitalization).

  • Medical prescription (prescription from school / kindergarten) required.
  • No own contribution.

Accounting:

The driver needs for billing the health insurance company:

  • The name of your health insurance company.
  • Your name, address and date of birth.
  • If applicable, the number of the prepaid card or exemption card.
  • Your signature on a billing document.

And as an attachment:

  • Physician's prescription.
